16 Amazingly useful tips to build a site with High Domain Authority

Is digital marketing not working for you? Aren’t you getting good traffic to your website? Check the Domain Authority of your website using MOZ Pro Open Site Exprlorer you might very well find the reasons why you are not getting enough traffic to your Webstie/Blog.

Domain authority of a website ranges from One to Hundred, where one is the worst and anything above one is better than that.

Domain Authority for my blog is 66, I feel this is a pretty good score. But this is never going to be steady, it keeps changing. It changes every two weeks as of now. The frequency might change going forward. MOZ has to decide about the frequency and the factors it considers while publishing Domain Authority of a website.

Let me help you with 16 points to help you understand Domain Authority and Increase your DA score significantly. These 16 Tips will ensure you are getting a good return on your Digital Marketing Investments.

1.    Domain Authority is measured for a website/blog and not for individual pages. Individual pages within a blog might have different page authority, but the domain authority for the entire blog is one number. Which means when your website is new and has very few pages/posts. It’s easy to increase the DA sporadically just by adding one more post.

2.    Domain Authority is a number that is arrived based on a logarithmic process. It zooms from 10 to 40 pretty quick, however it crawls when moving from 70-80. This is a good news, if your DA is low, you could move up quick and fast. This is a quick win and a big boost for your team and sponsors.

3.    While SEO is based on two hundred parameters, DA is based on just 40 parameters. Isn’t it nice? If you are doing really well on DA, it means you have mastered and covered 40 important SEO parameters. One metric implies you are doing good on 40 other parameters. Imagine how easy it is now to track, measure and improve. Thanks to MOZ for making our lives easier.

4.    A good quality content, wins you major part of DA battle. Quality content is useful in many ways for several metrics. Hence it naturally gets a fair weightage in DA ranking too. Awesome content in this context for a High DA score, is something that is engaging, long enough (probably epic is better), should have relevant links pointing to trustworthy sites.

5.    A site with a High DA ranks very well in search engines and brings in tons of traffic, but it’s got to be really focused on a specific subject; Like my blog which is focused on Digital Marketing for entrepreneurs, bloggers, affiliate marketers and anyone who wants to bring a lot of traffic to their website.

6.    Social Mentions about your site is giving a massive boost to DA score. My blog U2-review gets more than 80 percent of the traffic from Social Media, probably that is the reason it’s got a high DA score. So make sure your posts reach social media from yourself and several others.

7.    Link your posts really well. Try and ensure all your posts are linked, they also have hyperlinks to pages like, about us, contact us, link to home page etc on all posts. Internal linking of all the posts brings you a massive win.

8.    External linking is also essential. Your posts should point to external sites, those sites should be trustworthy. Links on your site shouldn’t point to same and very few sites, they should point to a real diverse set of sites. This diversity of links is a key signal, that let’s google and other search engines to rank you high on DA.

9.    Age of the domain name impacts domain authority, but this is a little uncontrollable factor. If your site is not as old as your competitors site, then you can’t really do nothing about it. So don’t worry about the age factor. Just ignore this factor and focus on others.

10.   One of the easiest things to improve on anything is to monitor it. In the MIS WORLD it’s a thumb rule that if you start reporting on something, that thing improves sporadically. So is the case with DA. If you monitor it constantly and mark the scores, it is bound to improve.

11.   While you have to link to others blogs, you also need to ensure lot of other websites link to your site. One of the easy way to achieve this is doing guest blogging and ensuring you put a link to your blog. Guest blogging has its own set of benefits in terms of traffic etc. It also gives you a good benefit for your domain authority.

12.  Like Google page rank, Alexa Rank, Domain Authority is a ranking metric built by Moz. They have taken certain metrics and built a algorithm. It’s basically a data science product. Any company that has data scientists can come up with such algorithms and metrics for anything and everything under the sun. If you have enough time you can worry about all such algorithms and ranking metrics. Otherwise just focus on a specific few. Domain Authority by Moz is a good metric to focus on.

13.  Link profile is a big piece of work in building blogs and sites with high domain authority. We need to have a lot more inbound links than outbound links. This is automatically achieved if you care to write good quality content. Others will automatically start putting your link on their blogs and sites.

14.  Link profile is great but link velocity is also very important to worry about. If you happen to put too many links inbound or outbound or both, there are chances that google punishes your website. If the quality of your content is really good then you will get a lot of inbound links. These are the kind of things that can drive your link velocity and put you at the risk of getting punished by Google. But that’s ok, as long as it is natural and happening by itself you shouldn’t really worry about it.

15.  Page rank is not being published anymore by Google. In the absence of Page rank, what is your other option. I am opting in for Domain Authority. I like domain authority because its difficult to tweak. It’s easier to apply some tweaks and score well on individual pages, but not on an entire domain.

16. Returning visitors give you a good DA score. Yes you are right if you have a good number of visitors who come back to your site quite often you get a pretty good DA score. Now you know why Facebook has got a DA of 100. Your email subscribers list is the number one tool that is going to help you achieve good DA score through returning visitors.

I hope I was able to help you. Consider sharing this post with your network. Here is the benefit of sharing this post with your network. As Their website Domain Authority will go up, yours too will go up as both of you will give link to each other’s site.

Five Reasons Why You Should Bet Big on Digital Marketing

Digital marketing is gaining strong foothold. Thanks to smartphones, mobile digital equipment, easy and fast internet services. Every business and individual who want to outshine and leap forward their competition is taking up the digital route. I am listing Five Strong reasons for you to consider and bet big on digital marketing.

1.    Every bit of digital marketing is measurable. If you can measure you will easily be able to eliminate the waste. You will be able to reduce investment on less productive steps. Invest more on highly productive steps. Since it is measurable, you could optimize your marketing campaigns for every season and reason. There are two things that have gained immense value in the recent past. One is automation and another is measurement. Many companies and individuals do not want to do anything that cannot be automated or measured. I personally feel that out of all types of marketing, digital marketing is the only thing that is highly measurable.

2.    If your business is not focusing on digital marketing, then chances are that your existing customers are being attracted and educated online by your competitors, soon you might find your customers shopping with your competitors. Attracting strangers and turning them into visitors, leads and customers is mostly done via education. Web is the most cost effective way of delivering the content/education to strangers.

3.    Digital Marketing is leveling the play. Everyone has got equal access to the best quality tools to spread the word, be it a individual, or a startup, SMB or a MNC. Digital Marketing and Cloud Computing have democratized the technology. Everyone has got access to same tools and technology at an affordable price. If you want to take on the biggies in your industry, craft a digital marketing strategy. Sooner than expected you will see the results. Notionally your peers in the industry, suppliers, vendors, employees and customers will start seeing you as one of the biggies in your industry. This acknowledgement is a big psychological boost. This boost is big enough to keep you driving until you get there! Among the ranks and files of industry leaders in your specific domain.

4.    Digital Marketing is interactive, where as Traditional marketing is more of a one way system. In most cases you don’t get feedback in traditional marketing, in case if you get the feedback it would be too late, and you would have already spent a lot of money in the wrong direction. Since digital Marketing is interactive, customers provide feedback instantly. This frequent feedback will help you course correct and stay relevant to your customer’s needs and preferences. Human beings learn from the people they spend most of their time with. Sellers learn more from their customers rather than their trainers. As a marketer you will also learn more from your customers than anybody else. This is the reason you should give your customers an opportunity to voice their feelings. There is nothing that matches digital marketing in terms of acquiring customer feedback. If you are not doing digital marketing you are actually missing out on a lot of learning. This learning sometime is so useful that it can give you a pretty strong start in your next phase of growth plan.

5.    Digital marketing brings you tons of social proof. A specific education material or post is shared by several people. This social share adds trust and authority to your Brand. Achieving a similar SOCIAL PROOF in Traditional marketing is difficult, expensive and also pretty slow and generally late. Imagine the respect you command when a thousand people share your content or post. None in this world would dare to distrust you or question your integrity or authority (expertise). Achieving this kind of eminence via traditional marketing is going to cost you too much and in most cases many businesses give up on this aspiration. They just get back to normal drifting mode.

7 Tips for a successful Domain Name Selection.

You loose or win half the game the day you register your domain name. If you are a professional blogger, affiliate marketer, or business owner. Your selection of the domain name for your business is one of the most critical activities.

Lets understand why domain name selection so critical by analyzing some real time live examples.
Domain names have to convey the nature of your business. Let me give you some examples here.

1. Digitaldeepak.com: This name indicates that the website contains information about digital components. This Name is catchy and interesting. Easy to remember and short too.

2. digitalmarketinginstitute.com: This domain name indicates this website is all about digital marketing concepts. Although the domain name is long, but it is implying the nature of the business being offered. This name is transparent. Long names have the risk of loosing out because of spelling errors made by users.

3. digitalvidya.com: This domain name yet again is about learning digital marketing. This name is short and catchy, and India(Location Specific). "Vidya = Knowledge" in several local langauages in India. If you have a local business and local audience, then using geographically specific phrases in domain name is a excellent choice. If your audience is global, then you may not want to choose, country, region and language specific domain names.

4. onlinemarketinginstitute.org: This domain name is transparent and global yet long. But the keyword "onlinemarketing" has pretty strong search volume. 5 Million per month is a massive volume.

You should try to get this kind of domainname, even if it means you have to buy the domain name from some one else for a little extra premium price.

5. Extensions you use in your domain name have a significant impact too. For years .com has been the preferred extension. It still brings lot more traffic to a website. Let me show you the differnce.

As seen in the above picture, a .com extension is getting about 60M search volume.

Same name with a .in extension is getting about 40 M Search Volume. Extensions have a definite impact too.

6. Since extensions make a differnce, and probably bring you a lot of traffic too as seen in the example above, it is a good idea to register your domain name with all the possible extensions like .net, .org, .co.in, etc. If you do not have enough funds, you could ignore this suggestion and just start with one extension.

7. Ensure you take care of copyright and trademark related issues when selecting and registering a domain name for your business. If someone is running a business by the name of "light shoes". If he has registered the trademark by "lightshoes", then you may not buy a domain name like lightshoes.com, lightshoes.org, lightshoes.in, lyteshoes.com, lightshooz.com or any other closely similar variants. Incase of a conflict or legal action you may loose all of these domain names to the first owner of the trademark. Read more about how to protect yourself from trademark infringement by Nolo.

Domain name is an extremely essential component of your digital marketing strategy. A short, easy to remember name is a massive asset. One word or two word name is great. Domain names should imply the nature of business, service and content underneath. Names should be easy to understand for target audience. You shouldn't use country specific, linguistically rich power phrases if you are targeting global audience. Ensure there is enough search volume and the volume is trending upwards. Select the right extension, and protect yourself from Trademark infringement related issues.
